Pizza!
I’ve always known that the Thermomix has a recipe for pizza dough, but it wasn’t until recently that I decided to try it out. I had tried it before at a friend’s house, but I found that it was a bit too crunchy. The crust wasn’t crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It just seemed like a huge, thick cracker with toppings on it. I decided to try it out at home anyway. Since the pizza dough is meant for 8 people and since I was alone, I decided to make the whole amount but only use parts of it at a time.
The recipe itself is quite simple; you only need about 4 ingredients. After the Thermomix finishes kneading, the recipe says to leave the dough covered in a warm place for 20 minutes. The first pizza I made came out like the one I tried at my friend’s house. Yummy, but too crunchy and hard. I still had a whole bunch of raw dough left, so I put it in a tupperware and left in the fridge overnight. The next day, I opened the fridge and saw that the dough had nearly doubled in size! I was super surprised even though it’s quite obvious since the dough has yeast in it… That night I used the leftover dough to make another pizza. This time around it was exactly how I like it: crispy on the outside while fluffy on the inside! It is also true that when I’ve gone to pizzerias, the menu usually says that their dough is fermented for X amount of hours (usually 36 or more). So, if you plan on making this pizza dough at home, I highly recommend making it at least a day ahead. But, make sure to put is in a container that’s big enough for the dough to grow in! You don’t want pizza dough spilling all over your fridge!
What I love about this recipe is that you can put whatever you want on it! The first few times I made it I just added tomato sauce, mozzarella, and prosciutto and basil (after the pizza is baked). I made the pizza dough again recently and split the pizza in four parts. I used mozzarella on one half and a shredded cheese mix on the other. On the half with mozzarella I added anchovies on one part and prosciutto on the other after the pizza was baked. On the half with the shredded cheese, I just added prosciutto on one half after the pizza was baked. It was delicious! But again, you can add whatever you like. Next time I’m thinking of adding sausage and mushroom. The possibilities are endless!
I also have to mention that there are multiple recipes for pizza dough on the Thermomix. I would like to try the other ones out with the same fermenting time of at least 24 hours. In this post I am talking about the “Pizza al estilo napolitana” in the Spain section of the Cookidoo website.
I will definitely be making more pizzas in the new future especially since I have to perfect my pizza shaping skills!
I hope you enjoy making you’re own pizzas at home and feel free to share your favorite toppings!
