Moving to Madrid
After four years, my time in Edinburgh has come to an end. I spent three years studying there and once I graduated I was unsure what was next in my life so I decided to stay another year and work. So for the past eight months I was working with as a nanny. I met Pablo, made new friends, experienced new things; my relationship with the city completely changed. I was no longer living in Edinburgh as a student, going back and forth from home to class. I actually started seeing Edinburgh as my new home and felt that somehow I was establishing deeper roots. Instead of filling my free time with studying, now I could read more, cook more, and truly enjoy the true Edinburgh. However, I didn't see myself living in Edinburgh indefinitely. My job was not a career, and the moment I found a more serious job I knew my roots in Edinburgh would just get deeper. I decided around December that it was time for something new. I wanted to go back to studying and so did Pablo, but another two to four years in Edinburgh would nearly be a decade in Scotland...that's insane!!! After some contemplation over some food, we decided to move to Madrid to study, work, and experience something different. So here I am, one month before starting a whole new chapter in my life: new country, new city, new food!
Obviously I'll keep writing while still in Edinburgh, but soon I'll take a new turn and start writing about my experience in Madrid. I'll have to find new favorite spots to eat, a New Mexican grocer, new farmer's markets, etc. But it'll be an amazing adventure, a new chapter in my life, and hopefully I'll have the honor of sharing it with you guys!
